Excited to have a feature in the new issue—Spring 2019—of Anglers Journal. It’s portraits of 8 guides who work on Silver Creek. A long term project of mine is taking portraits of fly fishing guides, salt and freshwater, all over the world. This piece is great as it’s right in my back yard. Thanks to the 8 guides who not only took the time to be a part of this but let me take a portrait of them which is not always fun to do.

A Sun Valley Shepard
About a week ago, I received a WhatsApp call from Leonardo. Out of the blue. Assumed I had made no great impression on him when, earlier in the summer I had stopped along Trail Creek Road to get a few images of him. I had sent him the shots via WhatsApp. He asked me to come out and visit his new, albeit short term, location near Hailey. I brought a few beers and we talked for an hour or so about his nomadic life here in the States and his family back in Peru.

Silver Creek. Winter 2018
As you can see, there's no snow... Absolutely crazy weather here. No snow at lowish elevations. Highs in the upper 30's to low 40's this first week of 2018. If there has ever been a winter to be out on the river, this is the one.

One more week until Silver Creek opens and we still have plenty of snow up high. You can ski this weekend and then fish Silver Creek next weekend..

Here's a shot from late yesterday afternoon of Silver Creek. We've had a lot of rain which is really well needed! It has also turned some of the brown back to green which will not last for long. Indian summer though for the rest of the week with highs in Picabo near 60.

Trail Creek Pass
I suspect I drive Trail Creek Road nearly 100 times a season and it's a drive I've never gotten tired of. It won't be long until Trail Creek pass closes for the winter. It's a spectacular drive anyway you look at it...

Here's one from earlier this summer of John Huber and Jimmy Coale on the stalk somewhere on Silver Creek.

A Ketchum, Idaho Home
I recently wrapped up a shoot on a beautiful mid-valley home on the banks of the Big Wood River. This house was a pleasure to shoot in many ways. Below are a few of the images:
