Big Wood River
Finally some more snow here in the Sun Valley area!

Big Wood River Split shots
A few images from yesterday on the Wood. The water is incredibly clear this time of year, not to mention cold… I forgot to change the aperture on the second shot below and accidentally left the shutter open long enough to get motion blur with the fish.

A Sun Valley Shepard
About a week ago, I received a WhatsApp call from Leonardo. Out of the blue. Assumed I had made no great impression on him when, earlier in the summer I had stopped along Trail Creek Road to get a few images of him. I had sent him the shots via WhatsApp. He asked me to come out and visit his new, albeit short term, location near Hailey. I brought a few beers and we talked for an hour or so about his nomadic life here in the States and his family back in Peru.

It’s starting to look and feel like fall. In fact, tomorrow, September 21st will be the first day of fall. Cool mornings and beautiful sunny days in the upper 60’s to low 70’s are on the horizon.

Silver Creek. Winter 2018
As you can see, there's no snow... Absolutely crazy weather here. No snow at lowish elevations. Highs in the upper 30's to low 40's this first week of 2018. If there has ever been a winter to be out on the river, this is the one.

Silver Creek Spring Storm Cell
One more week until Silver Creek opens and we still have plenty of snow up high. You can ski this weekend and then fish Silver Creek next weekend..

Galena yesterday afternoon. Still plenty of snow up high. The Snotel gauge for Galena yesterday reported 56" of snow.

American Angler
Here's an image of mine appearing as the Table of Contents spread in the current issue of American Angler.
This was a fun shot to take on Silver Creek. It's actually one of a series of shots that shows this rainbow either about to take or just after taking this balled up spider web loaded with tricos. All of the other fish in this pod either ignored or refused this web ball, except for Spidy--so named do to its proclivity for trico laced spider web.
Winter on the Big Wood River
A little snow finally came our way yesterday blanketing our valley in white.

A Great November Day On Silver Creek
The Silver Creek Preserve and Double R sections of Silver Creek close on December 1st of each year. It's the final week to fish these pieces of water and with relatively warm temps it's been really good (it did snow about 1" today though).
Pioneer Cabin
Took a Sunday walk up to the Pioneer Cabin yesterday. Unseasonably warm but beautiful...

Here's a shot from late yesterday afternoon of Silver Creek. We've had a lot of rain which is really well needed! It has also turned some of the brown back to green which will not last for long. Indian summer though for the rest of the week with highs in Picabo near 60.

Trail Creek Pass
I suspect I drive Trail Creek Road nearly 100 times a season and it's a drive I've never gotten tired of. It won't be long until Trail Creek pass closes for the winter. It's a spectacular drive anyway you look at it...
