Anglers Journal Winter 2019 Issue

I’m excited to have a few images and a short written piece in the new issue of Anglers Journal. The third image below is not mine but the written piece is.

American Angler

Here's an image of mine appearing as the Table of Contents spread in the current issue of American Angler.

This was a fun shot to take on Silver Creek. It's actually one of a series of shots that shows this rainbow either about to take or just after taking this balled up spider web loaded with tricos. All of the other fish in this pod either ignored or refused this web ball, except for Spidy--so named do to its proclivity for trico laced spider web.

Anglers Journal

I have a featured piece, both words and photography, in the current issue of Anglers Journal. Last January I spent three weeks with the Salas family at their family owned and operated lodge, Los Torreones, in Chilean Patagonia.

Pancho Salas, the patriarch, blew me away with his work ethic, kind heart, sense of humor and genuineness. He has passed those traits on to his four children as well, three of whom are fantastic guides.

A big thank you to John Mullen for introducing me to Pancho and his family. I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to stay with the Salas family in their home and lodge for the amount of time that I did.

I am looking forward to getting back there and hopefully sooner rather than later.

The FlyFish Journal Issue 7.4

I'm excited to have a bunch of work in the new The FlyFish Journal including a feature (photography only) on Cuba. The Cuba piece was shot last February on a trip to Havana and the Cuban marine archipelago, Jardines De La Reina. It was my second trip there.
The piece was written by Sarah Grigg who happened, I believe, to have done the same trip as me a month prior.

A feature story (photography) in issue 7.4, summer 2016, of The FlyFish Journal on Cuba. Written by Sarah Grigg.

Here's a larger version of the above image. The shot was taken along the Malecon in Havana on a relatively cool winter's day. I like that the driver is looking forward and that the hand of the driver's side passenger is slightly visible.

Anglers Journal Cuba

Here's a link to a feature I wrote and photographed on Cuba. This story appeared in Anglers Journal about 6 months ago. Many of the published images do not appear in this digital piece unless you already subscribe. This was based on my first trip to Cuba about two years ago. I was there for my second time this February. I have more work that will appear in upcoming issues.

Silver Creek Brown Drakes

Below is a two page image in the new Spring issue of Fly Rod & Reel of John Huber fishing a prolific Brown Drake spinner fall on Idaho's Silver Creek. This was the heaviest spinner fall I saw last year.

The Spring issue of Anglers Journal has an 8 page feature of mine on Jardines de la Reina, Cuba. I did the photography and the writing. To subscribe to Anglers Journal click HERE

The Drake Magazine Summer Issue

Still thinking about Brown Drakes...? Then check out the new issue of The Drake magazine. Below is the opening two pages of an eight page feature on Silver Creek's Brown Drake hatch. This hatch is one of my favorites and Silver Creek is a spot I find myself shooting all the time...
